Buenos Aires pulsates with a lot of energy and since the devaluation of the Argentinean peso one of the world's most expensive cities has turned into a holiday paradise for every income.

As it is stated nicely in one of the most famous tango songs, Buenos Aires is the "world's most magnificent" city. Buenos Aires disposes of architecture, art, music, nightlife and of an uncomparable offer of cultural activities. The "porteños" as residents of Buenos Aires are used to be called, say "Buenos Aires nunca duerme" (Buenos Aires never sleeps).

There is hardly anything more dear to the "porteños" than their leisure time and touring through "boliches" as they call the uncountable number of bars and clubs in their city. Thus, the offer for enterprising people is great: nostalgic tango salons and "confiterias" for traditionalists, cinema palaces and theatres for culture aficionados, techno clubs and rock concerts for all age-groups and incomes.

The different districts of the city are rather varietal and each one has its own specific atmosphere:
The Microcentro with the two pedestrian plazas "Florida and Lavalle" is the heart of the city. There is a dense crowd of business men, tourists, street musicians, and flying merchants.

The elegant avenue "Avenida de Mayo" was built in French style and it cuts the Monserrat district in its northern part. To the east of the avenue there is the splendid palace of the President, called "Casa Rosada" and to the west you can find the impressive parliament building.

San Telmo is the artists' quarter and it belongs to the most beautiful and historically interesting districts of the city. With its lanes paved with cobblestone and its modest buildings it still keeps its colonial charm. Inside the buildings there are jazz and tango bars as well as antiques shops.

When you enter the harbor district of La Boca you might be surprised by the sudden mix of colourful houses in the famous "El Caminito" street.

The chic and exclusive district of Recoleta is located to the north of the city centre. It is world famous for its cemetery with the grave of Evita Perón. Palermo is ornamented with spacious parks and a lot of greenswards. Within these parks there are some marvellous monuments. Further, Palermo offers many international restaurants of high quality and an active nightlife.

The city's latest landmark is Puerto Madero, where elegant bars and restaurants where established in former storehouses and where you can ramble along the quay wall for hours.

The need for countryside and fresh air is satisfied by Costanera Norte, which is a nice and long promenade along the Rio de la Plata.
